Rather than shelling out on expensive and sometimes cumbersome contraptions, one woman has shared her genius method for cleaning her makeup brushes on the cheap – a Lego plate.

Yep, dig into your younger family member’s toy box or visit Toys R Us with a tenner, the raised circles on the Lego board create enough texture to dislodge old makeup when you swirl the brush on op with a bit of soap.

Reddit user happyidiot3791 posted a snap of her system on the site and received plenty of praise from other commenters.

Considering some cleaning accessories can cost upwards of $50 (and some even coming in at $100) we’re happy to save our dollars and give this innovative idea a try.
