Watch Pro Wrestler Sheamus Do an At-Home Yoga Workout
WWE superstar Sheamus, a.k.a. the Celtic Warrior, is always game to check out another wrestler’s workout. He’s tried ab smashers with countryman Jordan Devlin, cardio burners with Alexa Bliss, and Olympic lifts with John Cena. But wrestlers aren’t always pushing the intensity. Sheamus dialed it back a notch for a yoga session with Mickie James, a former WWE champion herself and current country singer. And like the majority of muscle-bound men, he’s definitely out of his comfort zone.
“Most of us gym guys don’t fully respect [yoga] and probably secretly fear it,” he says in the video’s description. “But there’s a reason it’s been around for about 5,000 plus years. It works.” The WWE Superstar is right—guys should give yoga more respect. Just watch how he handles a simple session.
James asks Sheamus if he’s ever done yoga, and his response is classic.
“No. No. I’m the worst,” he answers. “I feel like Frankenstein half the time.”
James says she plans to work through a yoga flow session with him, so they won’t be focused on holding moves for extended periods of time. Rather, they’ll be going through lots of poses, working on flexibility, mobility and balance.
“Oh my God, I’m so unflexible,” Sheamus admits within the first few moves.
He masters downward facing dog and cobra with the instruction of James.
“You should do one yoga class a week,” advises James. “You’ll have to skip one heavy lift day.”
And Sheamus agrees, though he says he’ll need the proper attire. Sounds like he needs to invest in some leggings.
“It’s hard when you’re not naturally bendy, but doing a little bit every day will make you far more flexible and far stronger… you will make huge gains in your fitness and well being,” he says.
