Gabrielle Union is a mainstay on the movie screen and in the gym. (Bring It On always and forever.) But, it turns out she takes breaks from her fitness routine, too. After a nearly two-month hiatus, the 47-year-old actress is back with a new workout video on Instagram. Tbh, from the looks of her abs, butt, and arms, it doesn’t seem like she missed a beat or lost any muscle definition.
In the Instagram Story video, Gab shared several moves from her early morning sweat sesh (6:00 a.m., guys). She works her legs, butt, and arms from all directions. Her bright pink ‘fit is also totally snazzy, but what really stands out are her strong muscles. Incredibly, she writes, “Took almost 2 months off, now to build it back.” I’m sorry what?! How does her bod looks so friggin’ toned after that much time away from the gym (or whatever “off” means to Gab)?

Her usual routine may offer a clue to the celeb’s staying power. Gabrielle says she devotes about six minutes within each session to cardio. She does three sets of two-minute cardio intervals. “I like to mix it up so I don’t get anxiety staring at the treadmill,” she previously told Women’s Health. “Cardio could be jumping jacks, running up my driveway, side shuffles like I used to do in basketball, an elliptical, treadmill, or sled pushes.”
That’s only a small part of her fitness regime. “There are some old faithfuls I’ve been doing my whole life: squats and lunges,” Gabrielle previously told Women’s Health. “They’ve never really failed.”
She definitely knows what does and doesn’t work. “As the workout phases come and go, I’ll try everything,” she also previously told WH. “Nothing, not one thing, has stuck. I’ve tried kickboxing, cardio barre, I’ve tried a SoulCycle class…I’m not a class person.”
Instead, Gab relies on those tried-and-true moves for her toned butt. Yep, squats and lunges, just like she demonstrates in her new workout video. “You can do those anywhere,” she added. Ah, maybe she’s been doing squats and lunges in the wild and took a cue from Elizabeth Hurley? Whatever it is, it’s working for Gabrielle!
