Fruit and vegetables: Non-EU products are often loaded with pesticides
Imported food from Non-EU countries exceed particularly common limits for residues of plant protection products.
In the year 2018 8.8% of the examined samples were above the so-called maximum Residue level, such as the Federal office for consumer informed protection and food safety (BVL).
The trend is for the number of Exceedances in the case of foodstuffs from Non-EU countries since 2015. In the case of Products from Germany, the limit value in 2018 and was exceeded only in 1.3% of cases.
These varieties are most commonly affected
The views of individual vegetables and fruit: Apples, carrots, potatoes, strawberries and asparagus, the authorities were little or no Exceedances.
Most frequently, the limit on beans with pods, rice, and Kale has been exceeded. A total of 2018 were examined according to BVL 19 611 samples in the laboratories of the Federal States on residues of plant protection products.
The BVL does not know that to exceed the maximum salary is equivalent to a health risk for the consumer.
MRLs are, therefore, never beyond the health-relevant limit, but are usually significantly lower.
In the case of Exceeding the MRL in a food trade with this may be refused, even if no health hazard exists.
