This is the graphic moment a huge, painful mass of hardened wax is removed from a man’s blocked ear canal.

The disgusting footage was filmed during a lengthy procedure at The Hear Clinic in Oadby, Leicester, by Mr Neel Raithatha – AKA ‘The Wax Whisperer’. 

The unidentified patient was referred from his GP after suffering severe earache and hearing loss, plus worsened tinnitus, after months of gradual build-up.

Stunned by the quantity of extracted wax, the relieved man not only regained is hearing, but joked that he could open his own candle-making factory.

The grim video, which was uploaded to YouTube, begins with a dark-brown mass visibly obstructing the ear canal.

As the 23-second clip plays out, a micro-suction device enters the frame and is seen trying to dislodge the impacted wax. 

After several seconds, it slowly begins to weaken under the force. Then, eventually, a large clump of it falls away.

Moments later, a second clump is also successfully removed – leaving the ear canal almost completely unobstructed.

‘There was so much earwax present it was never-ending,’ Mr Neel Raithatha declared

‘It was never-ending’   

‘The surgery had previously attempted to irrigate the ear with water, but unsuccessfully,’ Mr Raithatha said, detailing the relative severity of the patient’s condition.  

‘There was so much earwax present it was never-ending,’ he added.

WHAT IS EARWAX BUILD UP?

Earwax usually falls out on its own but, in some cases, it can become blocked.

It cannot be prevented as the wax is there to protect ears from water, dirt germs, infection and foreign bodies. 

You are more likely to suffer buildup if: 

• You naturally produce more wax
• You have hairy or narrow ear canals
• You are elderly because wax hardens with age
• You wear a hearing aid, headphones or earbuds as these push wax in further

Symptoms include earache, difficulty hearing, itchiness, dizziness, an ear infection and tinnitus.

You can try using over-the-counter wax softening drops or warm water to irrigate your ears.

If this doesn’t work, seek professional medical help in case of infection.

However, it’s essential that people don’t attempt to perform extractions on their own ears.

Typically, this can push offending masses of wax further into the ear canal, making symptoms worse. 

These can include vertigo, itchiness and tinnitus.

Neel said because the earwax was so soft and loose, patience was key and so he needed to gently remove section by section until the deep final layer near the eardrum was exposed.
