Dr Ben Kelly from Nuffield health said: “If you struggle with high blood pressure, subtle changes to your diet can help improve your situation alongside the advice given to you by your GP. You don’t have to revolutionise the way your think about food. Five easy tips to follow include reducing salt intake, increase dietary potassium, portion control, balancing diet and regular eating pattern and moderating alcohol intake.”

Pomegranates can easily be incorporated into your diet. They can either be tossed into a salad, sprinkled onto yoghurt, added to smoothies, or use the seeds as a tangy garnish on avocado toast.

To reap the inflammatory benefits of the fruit, Dr Olumayokun Olajide from the University of Huddersfield recommends using juice products that are 100 percent pomegranate, which will provide a large amount of the compound.
