Dayanara, 44, also mentioned the Netfix documentary, Heal, which is about the healing powers of the mind. She says her fans recommended she watch it, and that she can feels their prayers, even from miles away. “Because we are all connected… it works.”

Dayanara also revealed that she starts radiation treatment for her melanoma today. According to the American Cancer Society, radiation is typically used to treat when surgery isn’t an option for some reason. Other times, it’s used after surgery to lower the odds that the cancer comes back.

The type of radiation most often used to treat melanoma is called external beam radiation therapy. It beams the radiation treatment onto the cancer to kill the cells. The process, which isn’t painful and is a bit like getting an X-ray, only takes a few minutes. Doctors figure out a treatment schedule depending on where the melanoma is.

Radiation treatment for melanoma can have side effects, including sunburn-like skin problems, hair loss, fatigue, and nausea. Dayanara also understands that she may feel some effects from the radiation: “I might get a bit weak & some muscular pains,” she wrote, while asking her followers to “keep praying.”

Dayanara didn’t say how often she’ll need to get the radiation, but here’s hoping it works quickly and she feels better soon!
