You don’t have to go on a juice cleanse to reap the benefits of drinking fresh fruit and vegetable juices. Cucumbers are extremely nutrient-rich and drinking the juice of two cucumbers daily could transform your health in a number of ways. Express.co.uk reveals everything you need to know about the benefits of drinking cucumber juice, according to the author of bestseller Thyroid Healing and number-one New York Times Bestselling book Life-Changing Foods, Anthony William aka the Medical Medium (@medicalmedium on Instagram).
Cucumber juice might not sound too appealing, but it’s a “highly alkalising and hydrating drink” that the Medical Medium recommends.
The natural juice is rich in nutrients such as vitamins A, C, K, magnesium, silicon, and potassium, so it can help to heal a number of health concerns.
All you need to do is wash and cut two large organic cucumbers, run them through a juicer and drink them on an empty stomach every single day.
If you don’t have a juicer, you can still blend your cucumbers and then strain them through a fine-mesh strainer, cheesecloth or nut milk bag so you end up with just the juice to drink.
You might think that mixing cucumber juice with other fruits and vegetables to improve the taste will do, but cucumber juice should be drunk solo.
The Medical Medium writes on his website: “Cucumber juice is best consumed alone about twenty to thirty minutes away from other foods and drinks.
“Some people like to have it twenty to thirty minutes after their straight celery juice in the morning.
“Others like to have it half an hour before their dinner, and some people enjoy their cucumber juice an hour before bed.
“Each of these times is wonderful provided they are away from other foods and drinks.”
But what’s the point in all of this? Express.co.uk reveals four benefits of drinking cucumber juice. Please note the information does not constitute any professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
Detox and hydrate
Cucumber juice has the ability to “cleanse and detox” the entire body.
On top of this, it has been found to help alleviate digestive problems such as gastritis, acidity, heartburn, indigestion, and ulcers.
The Medical Medium site adds: “It is also an ideal way to properly hydrate the body since it contains beneficial electrolytes that have the ability to bring nutrients and hydration deep into the cells and tissues making it far more effective than water alone.”
If you’re desperately trying to drink more water, you know what to do alongside it.
Natural diuretic
When you think of diuretics, your mind probably jumps to ‘water pills’ which help you to get rid of salt and water in your body.
Ditch the pills and stick with cucumber juice, because the Medical Medium says cucumber juice is one of the best natural diuretics around.
He says on his site: “Cucumber juice aids in the excretion of wastes through the kidneys and helps to dissolve uric acid accumulations such as kidney and bladder stones.
“It also has the ability to help reduce oedema, bloating and swelling in the body.”
Anti-inflammatory
People often praise ‘anti-inflammatory diets’ for helping them beat specific disorders caused by inflammation, and cucumber juice is probably the easiest way to get started on an anti-inflammatory diet.
The Medical Medium site explains: “It also has wonderful anti-inflammatory benefits which can significantly benefit autoimmune and neurological disorders.”
The examples given on the site include Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Migraines, Anxiety, Depression, Shingles, Eczema, Psoriasis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Multiple Sclerosis, and Lupus, but anything inflammatory can benefit from regular intake of cucumber juice.
Fever
Got a fever? Of course, take whatever your doctor prescribes but also try cucumber juice.
The Medical Medium says: “Cucumber juice is also an excellent remedy for bringing down a fever and the convalescence because it is very cooling to the body’s glands and organs.
“Twelve to twenty ounces of fresh cucumber juice on an empty stomach is recommended daily to help hydrate and recover the body.”
