Watch Lil Uzi Vert Deadlift 260 Pounds Using a Hex Bar
Lil Uzi Vert is building so much size and strength that he might want to consider changing that “Lil” to “Big” at some point in the future. In a recent video which Uzi shared to his Instagram story and then got reposted by Complex, the singer and rapper can be seen pulling a PR of 262 pounds on a deadlift for a total of three reps.
Given that he is around 5’3 in height and pretty lean, a number of commenters pointed out that he is actually lifting easily around half of his total weight. Not only is he lifting an impressive amount of weight, but Uzi is also ensuring that he maintains good technique and minimizes his risk of injury while performing the powerlifting staple by using a hex bar.
The hex bar, so named for its hexagonal shape, is a joint-friendly alternative to the regular bar which automatically improves spinal positioning and helps you capture full-body power during a lift. “The hex bar isn’t just an option for deadlifting,” says strength coach David Otey, C.S.C.S. “It also translates well to pushing, pulling, and loaded carry options, with those neutral-grip handles aiding each lift.”
Uzi is clearly seeing the benefits of this alternative approach to lifting. His IG Story also featured some glimpses of the rest of his workout, including a video of the rapper doing curls while wearing shades, with the text “Hangovers don’t exist” superimposed over the footage, as well as a short clip of him doing some hanging bodyweight work, and a shot of himself with his shirt pulled up to reveal his shredded six-pack abs.
