The Morning Rituals WH NFS Brooke Bevan Swears By
We each have our morning rituals, or habits that we go through before starting our day. I am a little challenged in the digestive health department. I have celiacs disease and multiple food allergies- mainly to any plant based fat- that have ended me in hospital more than once.
My morning rituals that I live by.
- Oil pulling: Ok. Sounds weird. I was sceptical at first, and still not entire sold on its benefits. However, one thing I did notice- no offensive morning breath or stench after things like coffee or yoghurt. It is an ancient ayuvedic practice that involves swilling oil in your mouth for around 20minutes, the belief is that it will help pull toxins from your body. 20minutes can sounds like a long time, but it’s best done first thing in the morning before eating so easy enough to do as you get ready for work. I use coconut oil because it tastes great plus it has a whole host of anti-bacterial properties, after 20 minutes spit it out and wash out your mouth with warm salty water.
- Apple Cider Vinegar: 2 tablespoons in warm water first thing in the morning. This stuff is amazing at easing any indigestion or heart burn. It helps to aid digestion, has antibacterial properties and can help prevent the build-up of lactic acid in your body. Always search for a brand that is raw and unfiltered.
- Probiotics: Gut health is so important for so many reasons. A probiotic will help boost the immune system, improve digestive function and improve absorption of nutrients throughout digestion.
