Janet Jackson Nailed Two of Fall's Biggest Hair Trends at Once

Janet Jackson is the embodiment of a living legend. Since the 1970s, the Indiana-raised multihyphenate has acted, danced, and sung her way to stardom, all while cementing herself as a beauty icon, too. Throughout her extensive career, she's inspired looks people will emulate for many years to come, like the simple but iconic box braids from Poetic Justice that have been recreated for Halloween countless times. In her latest Instagram post, those box braids make a reappearance in a color-blocked style that mixes blue and black hues.

The "Rhythm Nation" singer shared the selfie of the new hairstyle that incorporates two fall hair trends (color-blocking and box braids) on October 24, putting her radiant skin and smile on display with a kissy face emoji as the caption. Her box braids are situated over her right shoulder underneath a plaid hat. We can't see the full length of the braids but they at least hit her mid-back by the looks of it. Among the small-sized black box braids are a few cobalt blue plaits and faux locs that add the right amount of color to this protective style.  The blue pieces are also adorned with silver hair clips that were strategically placed.

One thing about Miss Jackson is that she's never afraid to experiment with her hair, whether it's with another protective style or a new hair color. Just a quick scroll through her Instagram will show you all the gorgeous hairstyles she's worn, including faux locs with golden hair clips and voluminous curly styles in ginger hues. One thing that remains consistent, however, is her captivating beauty that has attracted folks across the generations.
