Laura Dundovic Shares Her Skincare Secrets

You no doubt know her as a TV presenter, model and former Miss Universe Australia, but Laura Dundovic ain’t just a pretty face. The Natural Instinct ambassador is a psychology graduate with personal training credentials and nutrition coaching experience under her belt too.

So we spoke to the seriously fit 30-year-old about her holistic health goals, the skincare routine she swears by and the workout that’s transformed her body.

How has your exercise routine changed over the years?

I loved and still love cardio. I used to run a lot and that was my main form of exercise. I’ve since started training with the Base Body Babes (who I love dearly) and have seen the importance of lifting weights. It’s really sculpted my body and taught me the importance of mobility. I balance that with Duo Pilates when I’m in Brisbane and my goal this year has been balance, so my body is flexible and strong equally on both sides.

What’s your favourite workout now?

Anything high intensity. I don’t know when to stop! I also have been loving squatting. I am doing over my body weight at the moment and just keep loading!

What’s your least favourite workout?

I did a triathlon recently and the bike was my worst area. Don’t think I’m ever really top of the class at spin.

What helps keep you motivated?

When it comes to training, working out and staying motivated I like to mix things up. I try to do something different every day. I might go for a run on the beach and come back and do an abs and butt workout, I mix it up with dancing or Pilates too. Keep things fun and interesting! Also a new outfit or playlist doesn’t hurt!

What health fads have you tried and hated or loved?

I’ve never dieted so I’d say I hate them! I think it’s better to understand food, what works for your body and how to eat the right amounts of it rather than cutting something out!

What’s the best health or fitness tip anyone has ever given you?

Don’t pressure yourself. I think this is such an important tip when it comes to health and fitness. It’s not about going to the gym every day and feeling bad if you don’t make it. It’s just about being active, like a long walk, or making the effort to move away from your desk a couple of times throughout the day. You’ll begin to dread exercise if you tell yourself to go every day and do the same thing – it becomes a chore. You’ve got to enjoy being active. For me, I love to exercise or be active with my friends. It makes it easier and I enjoy it more.

What does your day on a plate look like?

I’m usually quite hungry when I wake up so my go to breakfast is usually smashed avo, cayenne pepper and lime on rye bread. That keeps me going until lunch time, when I’ll have a poached chicken salad. I get peckish again by mid-afternoon, so I’ll have a cacao powder and raspberry smoothie. I tend to eat out quite a lot for work so when I am at home I’ll cook something healthy like a vegetable curry. For dessert I tend to indulge in a home-made refined sugar-free chocolate treat for my sweet craving!

Has there been a change to your skincare regime that has improved your skin, if so what?

I think when I made the switch to using natural skincare products, I definitely saw an improvement in my skin. I used to think that that breakouts due to heavy makeup and lighting was just something that came with the job but when I decided to start using natural skincare products and Natural Instinct, I saw an instant change in my skin. It was more moisturised, plump and just glowed day after day. I would recommend anybody that has been having breakouts to give it a go! Plus it’s super affordable!

What does your daily beauty routine look like?

I have a pretty simple daily beauty routine. I wake up and start by washing my face to give it a deep cleanse, put on a light moisturiser and then make sure I put on some sunscreen. I like using the Natural Instinct Tinted Face Natural Sunscreen. It’s lightweight and incorporates ingredients like rosehip oil, green tea and vitamin E that help replenish and deeply moisturise skin. I never sleep with makeup on and try not to wear it if I’m not working.

What’s the one beauty product you can’t live without?

That’s a hard one! I’m loving the Natural Instinct Rejuvenating Rosehip Oil. I’ll massage 2-3 drops of it onto my face and neck and let it soak into my skin, then I will layer moisturiser on top. It’s filled with so many anti-ageing and hydrating antioxidants, omegas and vitamins like Rosemary Extract, Seabuckthorn Extract and Camellia Oil.
